Nutrition: 5 habits to help you succeed at it

Welcome to Part 3 of Nutrition Simplified, the last article from our series, that simplifies the standards and rules of healthy living. In Part 1, we discussed the importance of nutrition and food quality and quantity, and in Part 2, we discussed post-workout nutrition. If you missed either of the two, both are available on the CrossFit Stamina blogroll.

As mentioned in the previous articles, this series was inspired by one of my most latest nutrition finds: “Sustained Nutrition” by the very own Matt Chan, CrossFit Games veteran and seasoned coach, provides a simplified approach to nutrition. I thought it was fantastic how he was able to simplify nutrition for people who typically get overwhelmed by weighing, measuring or counting macros, and turn those negatives into positive outcomes.

Let’s dive into Part 3.

Nutrition: 5 Habits to help you succeed at it

  1. 4 Meals a day

  2. Schedule

  3. Slow Down

  4. Stop at 80% fullness

  5. Prep extra food

More times than not, we try to do too much in the beginning and then end up failing. With that being said it is important to take these 5 habits and break them down step by step.

(I.e.: Be consistent with No. 1 for two weeks, then add No. 2. Be consistent with No. 1 and No. 2 for two weeks before adding No. 3. Continue this pattern until you are consistent and successful with all of them.)

I hope you enjoyed this Nutrition series. If you want more information, or are interested in sitting down and talking specifics regarding your personal nutrition, please do not hesitate to reach out so we can set something up.
